Radiation Therapy

Are you here because you or a loved one are experiencing problems that your doctor says are related to radiation therapy (called "Late effects of radiation" or "Late effects, normal tissue")? Depending on where radiation was administered, patients can experience:

  • chronic, severe breast pain
  • vaginitis related to radiation, making sexual intercourse very painful
  • painful urination, sometimes with extreme urgency or frequency, and occasionally bleeding/clots (radiation hemorrhagic cystitis)
  • painful bowel movements, also with frequency/urgency and bleeding (radiation proctopathy or proctitis)
  • chronic diarrhea
  • problems with wounds that won't heal where radiation was administered, sometimes with infections that are hard to get rid of in head/neck cancer patients some can experience ulcerations of the gums, even exposed jaw bone
  • problems due to damage to the larynx

We can help. If you have received radiation at least six months or more prior and you are experiencing these problems, call our nearest center today for a consult with one of our physicians. In many cases a referral from another physician is not required if your symptoms have already been diagnosed as being related to radiation therapy you received in the past.
